Well the day I have been dreading is here, this Gal is 60 years old.
I have to face it. This is not an easy task admitting it or adding these photos..
Sorry today is no better then yesterday.
I'd love to hear from you Gals today young & old.
The Gals that have turned 60... did you have such a hard time of it?
I'm not a vain person but I just feel old and not of much use these days...how sad.
I know I have much to be grateful for and will reflect on them.
So I'll do my best to get through this day and the next & the next.
I wish you all a day filled with sunshine & smiles :-}
I do love you all! ~Mary~

  5. I will turn 61 this year and Iam having the best time. My four children are grown and live close by with their children so I am within driving distance. Turning 60 really didn't bother me in fact I didn't give it much of a thought. One of my good friends from high school died in 1983, leaving two children. I often thank the Lord that I have had the chance to grow old where as she didn't have the chance. Have you heard from Amy?? We live in NW IOWA and Iam wondering how she is surviving the flood. If you talk to her tell her Jan was asking about her. Thanxxx!

  11. Happy Birthday, Mary! You look beautiful - I love the picture of you with Samuel in 2000, and with the puppy this year! Treat yourself to whatever you want today - you deserve it. And try not to be down - the passage of time is hard for us all, but like Jan said, the time itself is a treasure!! You are very special to your family, friends, and us (your blogging buddies). 16. Happy birthday, Mary. I turned 60 last year and that number sounded so old, but now I forget all about it until I see the old lady looking back at me in the mirror and wonder who it is.

You look gorgeous in all the photos, especially the last one with the puppy. Let's vow to make each Birthday special - the numbers don't really matter - just revel in the moment knowing that the earth has been blessed to have you here each year.

I owe you an e-mail and will write soon. Bob and I both send love and very best wishes.
    Hugs - Mary.

  25. Happy Birthday Mary! Think of this as a new day, a new beginning and get all the joy you can out of it. It is only a number. I'm 55 and when I say it out loud I laugh out loud because I cannot believe I'm 55. I say, "Little Susie is 55??" So do something special and remember we are all here for you.

  29. Mary,
I am so glad to have found your sweet blog. I am edging close to 50...and I am determined that I am NOT going to let it get me down. I still have a teenager and that keeps me hopping and young at heart!
I hope that your birthday was a special day and that you start to feel young at heart! I will also pray for your friends. Only God can hear and answer our prayers...we have a wonderful Lord who cares about everything we go through.
    Have a blessed day! Lorena

  32. Happy Belated Birthday Mary. You look fabulous at 60, and I am sure you will at 70. I'm jealous of those cheekbones! I turned the big Five-OH last year,
and it ruffled my feathers for a bit... but I'm used to it now. I think. Hahaha. ps: You are one of the few who can pull off that beautiful hair color..I hope I can someday!

  34. Ahhh, dearest Mary...how I would love to be 60 again. I am 70 now and I have learned that the best way to handle being 70 is to say to myself every time I look in the mirror, "OOOOOO, I am SOOOO glad that I am 70 and not 80"!
It works for me...so try it !
Then, call a friend, spend the day with her, shopping, eating, laughing, remembering....
and always, ALWAYS remember how our Heavenly Father loves us and that in itself will make you feel better !!

Is it just me, OR is 60 a LOT younger than it used to be?!! :o) I am serious though...I think youth lasts a lot longer in these days than it used to be. You are just a young thing! Have a wonderful and blessed year!

  46. Hello,

Happy belated birthday. Your birthday is only 11 days before mine. I turned 59 on the 25th. It was hard, and I'm sure 60 will be even harder. I feel very much the same way as you do. I had to quit gardening because of my carpal tunnel syndrome, and this week I have had a bad knee.

But you were beautiful at your wedding and you are beautiful now, sweet lady.

    Love, Julie

  47. I turned 60 this year. I was feeling old. The day before my birthday I found out my 55 yr old sweet cousin (who seems like she's still 20 to me) has terminal liver cancer. Now I feel just lucky to be alive & I'm going to enjoy every single day.

  48. Sorry I missed your birthday! I, too, turned 60 this year. I'm older - my birthday is May 9th. I had a horrible time as it was approaching. But then the day came, and it turned into an absolutely fun day - from morning to night. And you know what - it is fine to be 60. As a matter of fact, my new phrase is "I'm 60 and I don't care." Try it. It feels good. I even have other people adapting it. It is kind of fun and a little evil.

Anyway, enjoy your 60th year. And remember - this is the youngest you are ever going to be!
