~Dalai Lama~

This practice was offered by the Dalai Lama.
He suggested doing this every morning.
He spoke that this will increase loving and compassion in the world, and asks everyone to share it with as many people as possible.

The Practice of Compassion:

1. Spend 5 minutes at the beginning of each day remembering we all want the same thing (to be happy and loved) and we are all connected.

2. Spend 5 minutes cherishing ourselves and others. Let go of judgments.
Breathe in cherishing yourself, and breathe out cherishing others.
If the faces of the people you are having difficulty with appear, cherish them as well.

3. During the day extend that attitude to everyone you meet - we are all the same and I cherish myself and you (do it with the grocery store clerk, the client, your family, coworkers, etc.)

4. Stay in practice, no matter what happens.

I like his ideas and will try to practice each day. Good way to start a good day and it should put us in a postive attitude for the day to come.

Fabulous post.
It is amazing how most religions have something in them that we can all put into our lives.
Take care.

I really like the Dalai Lama. I wish there was a way of combining Christianity and Buddism.

A friend of mine who just happens to be a priest said if you can't love yourself it is very hard to love anyone else. It is amazing how so many religions have the same thoughts.

Mary, my daughter was in New York when the Dali Lama was in Central Park and a journalist who knew her friend, was leaving, so he saw Eric and gave them his front row seat passes and she was mesmarized with him. She has always strived to live by his teachings and she is always so cheerful and when you are around her, it's addictive. Love Ya, Pat
