~My reading~

 my winter reading

***
I'm back to reading again.
I'd not picked up a book in over 6 years
since my daughter passed away.
When my Granddaughter Isabella got so excited
about the Twilight books I got curious.
I borrowed her 4 books and read them.
I enjoyed them so much I got my own and read them twice.
I found I needed more to read.
My middle Daughter gave me her
Charlaine Harris True Blood books I read all 10 of them.
I went on to read Anne Rice books about the Mayfair Witches
really enjoyed them but they are not for everyone!
After finding out the Mayfair witches were tied into
 Anne's Vampire Chronicles
I went in search of these books
finding them on eBay & at thrift shops..very cheap!
They now have become my winter reading.
In between I've stopped to read the classics
I fluctuate between the Occult and Classics.
How about you, what have you reading?

Lately it's been my bible and 12 steps.... but I do want to begin reading some classics again. I don't know how well I would sit reading vampire material, a little sqeemish I suppose. I've still not attempted the harry potter books. Can you imagine? I must be one of the few living beings who has not read one of those books. Yikes. I should make it my goal to read at least 15 minutes each and every day. Okay that's it done! I'll let you know when I pick my book. *wink*

Hi Mary:
I totally enjoyed the Vampire Chronicles when they came out; Anne Rice is great. I liked the Mayfair Witches. Cry to Heaven was so well written. I like her writings because her research is impeccable and so thorough.
I have to get her newest novel Angel Time came out in October 2009.
I e-mailing you and got side tracked : )
peace my Friend

Love your new finds at your "happy store". The Valentine box is nice as well as the faux cake.
Have been reading my magazines lately.
Thanks for visiting me.

So glad you've found some comfort in reading. It is a good escape, I find. I am not into the Vampire Chronicles, but do enjoy alot of the romantic fiction. Maybe I should give them a try, though. I hear it is alot of romance. Nothing better than finding a good book at the Thrift store... :)

Blessings

I forgot to tell you, I have recently listened to some children's books on CD: Narnia ~ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Little Prince, and the Secret Garden. All very, very good!

I'm trying to finish The Lovely Bones, as it come out in theaters tomorrow, I think, and I know my daughter will be wanting to see the premiere showing. After buying it secondhand twice and giving it back twice without reading it, the third re-purchase finds me brave enough to attempt it. (It sounded pretty powerful, and I just didn't think I was up to the read till now.) It's proven to be an incredible book. The "I Can't Put This Thing Down and Yikes! Who's Going to Do the Laundry That's Piling Up, So I Can Finish It?" kind, if you know what I mean.

A while back, I listened to my , so far, only encounter with Anne Rice: Violin, read by her on tape. An eerily "gripping" (Actually that might be stretching it.), personal-demony opening up of hers. At the time (late 90s?), it was a best-seller, but I'm not quite sure why. I would like to read some other books of hers, though.

I am into reading autobiographies lately. I read a few pages or a chapter before I go to sleep.
Glad you have found the joy of books and reading again.

I bought the new Stephen King book and am not enjoying it like I thought I would.
Hate that when I spend the money on a book that is not that great.
Thanks for sharing this post with us

Mary, I also have not read any of the Twilight books, but I have stacks of spiritual books that I read daily. I enjoy reading true stories about people that I admire and I just got Patrick Swazye's book that he wrote before he died. My son had all the Anne Rice books and there may be one in Crowley. Will check to see if it's one you don't have.My son is a reader and can sit and read for hours at a time. It takes me forever to read, except for my spiritual books. Have a great week. Love and hugs, Pat

Like you, for some reason I cannot sit and concentrate on reading a book since we lost Jordan. My brain seems to process things differently - like kind of on edge.

It is wonderful to find a good book that you can get lost into. Glad you are finding joy in these.
