~Pillows~
Things that make me smile :-}
Things that make me smile :-} my Converse All Stars shoes.
A passion of mine is collecting vintage fabrics. Pillow ticking, barkcloth & chenille are just a few of my favorites. So when when I found these shoes years ago they made me smile.. Would you believe they are made of cotton barkcloth fabric! Dark green background with pretty peach & pink flowers. I love wearing them to flea markets searching for vintage treasures..
Do you have something that makes you smile too? I'd love t see it!
Have a happy day~Mary~

~my sofa~
My huge 96"sofa is almost 9 years old and starting to wear on the skirt.. So I took the box pleated skirt off (never did like it). I then added the matelasse piece across the bottom, well now it too has worn. So this time I added a deep ruffled skirt.. It took me forever to do this! I had to hand ruffle it. Never again. To all your lucky Gals out there that have a machine ruffler bless your sweet hearts! LOL.. my 2 machines are OLD. I do like the ruffled skirt much better..
~I needed a SMILE~
I was feeling down the other day and truly in need of a smile.. so I gathered some pretty pink papers, 1930s sheet music and my Grandmothers antique glass glitter..and went to work making this smile banner. I painted on the pink letters and added glitter.

~Cake stand~
I put together this inexpensive cake stand using a clear glass candle holder & plate. At the thrift I found the vintage candle holder and candlewick plate for a total of $1.35 . I added a bit of glue and I now have a lovely cake stand. You can also use a rose porcelain plate instead of the clear glass.. They too are so pretty :-} ~Mary~

It's called the Pink Ribbon Project
I'm off to spend time with Isabella & Samuel & go to the thrift..
My most favorite things to do :-} Yippee!

~the PINK envelope
Today the "PINK" envelope arrived. I don't have to open it to know what it's about..It's the letter that reminds me that my mammogram is due. This year it will have to be put on hold.
Like so many other Gals in this country I no longer have health insurance.. Seeing this envelope I'm reminded of the Gals who are fighting cancer.
Amy and Solange have breast cancer.
Angie has vaginal cancer and Linda Marys sister has lung cancer.
Will you please take a second and say a prayer for these lovely brave Gals..
Do you also receive your letters in a pink envelope? Take care!~Mary~:-}

~New qulits & painted floor~
I've been painting my upstairs floor & steps... Oh my poor back! Moving all the furniture back and forth is killing this old Gal...What a job this turned out to be. I've been searching for matching quilts for the beds. I finally found some just the other day, I love them! Now if only I can find a cute rug..

Project~Mannequin head~
I've always wanted a hand painted Mannequin Head.. but they are a bit pricey for my budget. I found an old foam head (a bit beat up with a squashed nose) for 45 cents at the thrift. I tried to fixed her nose. Then painted her.. added some pearl pins that were a gift from Mary (thanks again Mary!) for necklace. And used 2 large vintage corsage pins for the earrings (from my Grandmothers things). She's not prefect but I think she will do for displaying my vintage hats on eBay.. Oh and I made the stand from a vintage crystal lamp base.

~Looking for Gluten Free recipes for Isabella~
As some of you may know my 10 year old granddaughter Isabella
has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Shes on 6 medications, 3 by injections. Her rheumatologist has started her on a special gluten-free diet in hopes this will help her arthritis. We are in search of good tasting gluten-free recipes.. I thought just maybe some of you Gals may know of some good ones. Yesterday we went to Cleveland, Ohio searching the health food stores buying things she will need. This sweet child is like her Grammy, we both LOVE to eat LOL.... So this will be a bit of a challenge for all of us! But hey if it helps her it will be so well worth it..
